I was wondering how others felt about having their blogs so public. I bring this up, because I wanted to post my video - since it was the best grade I have gotten in the class so far, but with my blog being public anyone can view it. That worries me. My video is a bit personal and I can think of a few people I don't really want looking at my stuff. When I google my name, my blog comes up, so anyone can view it. I know you can set your blog to private, but when I tried to do it, I had to put in everyone's blog to keep them able to view it, too much work, I gave up. Any comments I would enjoy. This is an issue that concerns me.

Another Collection - Money

After class I realized I had another collection at home that I had totally forgot about. First I must say that the reason I am not big on collecting is because after spending time in a 3rd world country you realize how materialistic we as Americans are and that we just have too much stuff. It is very humbling to see how others live with almost nothing. That being said here is my other collection, one that I will continue, I can't believe I forgot about it. (It's been hiding in a box)

I really hate collecting things. I believe less is best and constantly strive to clean up and throw out old things. I thought I would struggle for this show and tell then I remembered that in my basement is a whole collection of old cameras. I had collected cameras in the past and when I moved in April I packed them up and put them in my new basement and they are still sitting there. I don't even have closets in my house so I definetly don't have a place to display them, plus I stopped collecting them. Here are a few:

How to Chew Gum

Chewing your gum is a pretty simple task, that requires little thought or concentration. However, here are some steps to help you chew your gum better and maximize the pleasure from chewing. It is imperative to see the warnings below after you read the steps and tips.
Steps

. Find out what chewing gum is made of. In its simplest form, chewing gum is some form of rubber mixed with sugar and flavorings. Prior to World War II, it was a natural form of rubber called chicle. Since then, it has been synthesized and is a man-made chemical composition.

. Choose the type of gum you wish to chew and the flavor. Driven by consumer demand for many different varieties, there are several brands each with their own type of gum (i.e. sugar-free, natural, chewing, bubble, whitening) and each type has many different flavors, like spearmint, peppermint, or just normal bubble gum flavored gum.

. Know the facts about each type and flavor. For example, regular bubble gum has a lot of sugar and extra "chew" in it. If you have any dental or mouth issues that prevent you from chewing hard and for long periods of time, it would probably be best to avoid normal bubble gum.

. Open the package and unwrap a piece of gum.

. Place the gum in your mouth. The most common method is to place the piece on your tongue and draw it into your mouth. Then move the piece with your tongue to either side of your mouth for chewing.

. Chew the gum using your chewing teeth. Chewing teeth are the multi-surfaced molars in the back of your mouth. You commonly use these teeth for chewing food after you have bitten into it, using your front teeth.

. Occasionally, draw the gum to the front of your mouth and exercise your biting teeth. This will give your molars a short break—which is usually needed only for a couple seconds—and give your biting teeth some satisfaction.

. For bubble gum chewers, blow a bubble a couple times every minute or so if you wish. This also gives your molars a break and is fun to "play" with. Try to make it as big as you can!

. Continue chewing the gum for as long as you desire. Most gum loses its flavor within 10-15 minutes, but the residual taste can stay in your mouth for hours.

. Once finished, place the gum in the trash.

Project 5 - video - Dumb Luck!

On Sunday I shot the photos for my video - my son had long hair. (he is an actor in my story) After working on my video Monday I decided that I had would have to reshoot some images on Tuesday when my son came back from his fathers. I was so excited to see him, and noticed his hair cut. I was soooo happy he got his hair cut! I am always saying "let me cut your hair". Then it dawned on me - of all times for him to get his hair cut, this was not it- it was right in the middle of my video project. I could not reshoot those frames - he doesn't look the same. I realized I will have to reshoot the ENTIRE story - but that's ok. I am going to wait till after critique - no sense going nuts now - let me figure out what needs to be fixed before I reshoot the whole thing - talk about dumb luck!

Buy a car!!

It may sound strange, but with the stress of a divorce, being thrown into being a single mother, and starting a full-time job, I decided to start grad school. What was I thinking? When all the stress was pilling on me at once, what did I do?- I bought a cute sports car - It's amazing how something like this can help lift your spirits. I deserved it. (I did need a new car and I work at a dealership)

I was extremely moved by Brian Doyle's Joyas Volardores. It made me stop and think about life and just how precious and short life is. I loved his descriptions of the biggest and smallest hearts. Can you believe a heart can be that big that a child could walk around in it? I stop and think now about my 2 billion heartbeats and hope I spend them wisely.

Something That Inspires Me

Besides my son the only other thing that inspires me is this bikini clad flamingo lying on the beach with her drink. A friend gave this to me one winter evening. Over the past 7 months my life has gone through many changes and it has sometimes been hard to keep going. I am always telling my friend when can we open that tiki bar on the beach. I hate the cold, I hate winter, and long for the sun everyday. He gave me this knowing how I feel about winter and all the hard times I had been having. It inspired me to book a trip to St. Johns for 4 days and get some needed R&R. I keep it on my desk at work to remind me that whenever I want I can get away and get a break, there is somewhere warm out there were I can sit on the beach and relax and forget about all my worries if only for a few days.
